How To Get Streak-Free Self-Tan

New Year’s Eve is almost upon us, and most people will be partying and dressing up for the biggest night of the year.
After lots of relaxing at Christmas people will be itching to throw on something glitzy to celebrate the start of 2025. The hottest look this festive season has been sequins and sparkles for any and every occasion, and a great bronzed look goes perfectly with glitter on your body and if you’re in the mood, on your face as well.
So, if you’re planning to get tanned to perfection for New Year’s Eve, you need to know these foolproof tips to save yourself from any last-minute streaks.
Selecting Your Shade For New Year’s Eve

If you are thinking now about self-tanning for tomorrow night, here is a shortcut to getting a golden, natural-looking tan. Many brands now offer violet-based tans, they are labelled Dark and deliver a deeper tan than the regular orange or green-based tans we’re used to. One layer of Ultra Dark should tan the skin nicely and last up to one week after.
If your tan is a medium shade there is still time to apply two coats to get that perfect party look on New Year’s Eve. Here’s how to get an extra-deep tan in time.
Time Your Tan

After applying layer one allow to develop for at least 4-8 hours and rinse. Pat dry and immediately apply the second layer following the same development time and rinse. When dry, apply a body lotion or cream that is light but moisturising. Skip using a body oil in this instance, they don’t work well with fresh self-tan and can cause patchiness.
For any streaks or missed areas fill in with an instant tan that is not transferable onto clothing. Use Vita Liberata’s Body Blur instant tan on New Year’s Eve to cover up imperfections as well as give skin extra colour.
Hands & Feet Tip

When you apply self-tan to your hands and feet follow this tip for perfect results. After finishing the body there should be enough tan on the mitt to tan the hands and feet. Before tanning them apply a little body lotion or Vaseline to the palms and soles of the feet and then swipe the mitt where you want to tan.
The cream creates a barrier to prevent tanned soles and palms, any streaks along the sides will be softened by the lotion absorbing the tan. Perfection guaranteed, your New Year’s Eve self-tan will make you look like a bronzed, glittering goddess.
