Skin by Syd seeks to enhance natural beauty at new Painesville spa

Syd Lawrence is hoping to use her Skin by Syd business to focus on bringing out the beauty that her clients already have.

Lawrence recently moved Skin by Syd to 113 Main St., Suite 302, in Painesville. She offers a variety of facial, brow and lash services, with the goal of “enhancing people’s natural beauty” instead of trying to change them.

Skin by Syd’s service menu includes both a half-hour express facial and an hourlong custom facial. With the custom facial, Lawrence offers massages for the neck, shoulder and scalp.

“You don’t get charged any extras for extractions, anything else that I need to do, it’s completely tailored to the client’s skin,” she said. “So they will include cleansing, toning, a level of exfoliation through an enzyme, a mask, and then all finishing products as well including serums, moisturizers, all of that.”

Another facial service that Lawrence offers is dermaplaning, which she described as “a different type of facial” that removes “peach fuzz” and dead skin and “allows a deeper level of exfoliation.” She also offers microcurrents, which use currents to provide “a more lifted, toned appearance.”

Her listed brow and lash services include brow wax, brow lamination, classic lash extensions and lift and tint. She said that that last service “basically gives the appearance of if you were to use a lash curler and mascara” and lasts for four to six weeks.

“It’s a good alternative to somebody who doesn’t want to do makeup every single day,” Lawrence said.

She said that she graduated from the Brown Aveda Institute last year, and she later opened Skin by Syd in Willowick. She continued learning during that period, earning certifications in dermaplaning, microcurrent, lash lift and tints and lash extensions.

Lawrence said that she moved her business to Painesville on Nov. 1. She wanted the location to be safe and “aesthetically pleasing and nice.”

“When I found this specific location, the building was beautiful, location was great, it’s nice to be surrounded by other booming businesses because at the end of the day, that’s all that we want is to have our businesses be successful,” she said. “So, to be surrounded by them – what you’re around is what you will be, so, that’s great.”

“A lot of people will think about the esthetic world that you have to change everything about yourself and this, that and the other, but I really want to focus on enhancing people’s natural beauty, so I want to have somebody that they can come in and know that I’m not trying to fix certain things about them,” Lawrence said.

“Whatever they like about themselves, I just want to be the one to enhance that.”
