The winter has reached its worst point. After a long (like really long!) January, February has, quite frankly, blitzed by. Not to mention, it’s dark, it’s bleak, and it’s cold (ugh, I’m so over winter). That said, the shorter days and more time at home–sorry, I won’t leave my house when it’s below 10 degrees—has given me lots of time to test and invest in myself, my home, and my self care routine. Now, I’m ready to spill the learnings of my #research—a.k.a., all the products I’ve tried in the last month that majorly leveled-up my life.
8 Products that Leveled Up My Life
The winter is definitely not the time of year when my skin or hair thrive; I get really dry everywhere, from my scalp to my toes, but to combat the latter, I finally tried a best-selling, famous shower oil that has quite literally changed my life. Okay, maybe dramatic, but when I say my dry, itchy skin is now as soft as a baby’s bottom, I mean it. Not to mention, a shower oil? Talk about luxury for a really reasonable price. I’ve also invested in some new staples after going through some relatable closet frustrations—inlcuding a really cool pair of Madewell pants and a timeless, iconic cardigan from Reformation that I’ve been wearing nonstop since I got it.
Whoever says a product can’t change your life, sorry, but I disagree. And with a few more weeks of darkness and cold ahead of us, there’s no better time than now to really do something good for yourself—caring for, loving, and treating yourself is my M.O. at the moment (and always!)
L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil
Nordstrom
When I say your life is incomplete if you don’t own this essential French beauty buy, I mean it. The L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil literally changed my skin; after weeks of struggling with the usual dry (and thus itchy) winter skin, I tested out this raved-about shower oil. Yes, it is oil you use in the shower, but it lathers so nicely when combined with water that it’s essentially also a body wash. After the first use, my skin was bouncy and hydrated, and all my pesky itchy patches were gone. I’ll never be without this again.
Salt & Stone Saffron and Cedar Body Wash
Amazon
There’s a lot of debate between soap people and body wash people, and I do think having both in your shower is wise. In the latter category, I recently tested out Salt & Stone’s body wash in the newest saffron and cedar scent, and when I tell you this majorly leveled-up my shower experience, I really mean it. The scent? Incredible. It reminded me of the famous, hard-to-get Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum that I own and treasure like its my baby. Both share a slew of scent notes, including saffron and cedarwood, though the body wash has a slightly softer smell.
Madewell Low-Slung Baggy Jeans
Madewell
I’ve been itching for some baggy, loose, low-key cool-girl pants, and when I spotted these Madewell jeans, I knew they were it. Of course, I had to try them on because denim is denim and every brand fits differently—I definitely recommend going down one size, as they’re really baggy. Of course, the big, XXL pants trend is still in full swing, so go with your usual size to nail that look to a T.
Tecovas the Annie Boot
Tecovas
I was never a cowboy boot person; the few that I’ve tried were super uncomfortable and took weeks to break in, but after deciding the cowgirl aesthetic is one I’d like to partake in, I tried out these from Tecovas, and let me tell you: They’re amazing. They were comfy right out of the box (rare!!), the calf circumference is perfectly roomy, and the design is *chef’s kiss.* The wooden heel adds just the right amount of height and the silhouette is available in so many colors, though I opted for the subtle suede in the name of versatility.
NuFace FIX MicroWand Kit
Nordstrom
My beauty routine got a major upgrade last week when I added the new NuFace Fix Microwand Kit to it. The small but mighty tool targets three key areas: the under eyes (to depuff), lips (for volume), and any fine lines—the latter of which you can spot-treat to your 11s and smile lines. I was afraid to use it at first, seeing as I never tried the XL NuFace, but the kit and device make it all foolproof with the essential activator serum you apply before use on target areas and a built-in treatment timer.
Reformation Clara Cashmere Crew Cardigan
Reformation
Spring can get tricky when it comes to planning outfits; it’s cold in the morning, and then in the afternoon, it’s hot. So, to combat the indecisiveness that is spring weather, it’s wise to have some transitional pieces on hand—to which I kindly point your attention to this cashmere Reformation cardigan that you’ll wear for years to come. It’s so soft and has a no-frills design that pairs well with baggy jeans, silk skirts, wide-leg trousers—you name it, this Reformation cardigan plays well with it.
L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate Body Cream
Nordstrom
Here’s another French find that’s going to level-up your self care routine. After showering—with the L’Occitane shower oil, of course!!—slather this almond milk body cream all over for the most luxurious experience ever. Trust me. The scent is divine, and not in an overpowering way. It stays on your skin (in fact, my hubby commented on the lovely almond scent, too!), but it also deeply nourishes without leaving a greasy residue. This is another beauty staple I’ll be stocking up on every chance I get.
Sézane Carter Jacket
Sezane
Can I say I’m excited for rain? Okay, I’m not talking about intense spring downpours, but I like a little drizzle, especially now that I have this water-repellent Sézane jacket in my outerwear collection. Clearly, I’m feeling all the French vibes, but it’s no wonder every Parisian ‘It’ girl calls on this brand and this coat specifically. It’s so well-made and flattering but roomy enough to layer it on top of thicker sweaters.
